There is so much information about diet and health that no wonder things can get confusing.
Many experts (legitimate or self-proclaimed) argue in favor or against various forms of diets and ways of eating.
So which one is healthy? Low-fat, vegetarian, vegan, low-carb?
Well, I do not claim to be an expert, but ever since I started eating low carb foods in December 2009, I have constantly improved my weight, health and wellbeing.
I lost more than 15 pounds on low carb diet, although I was never too overweight.
I used to take two different high blood pressure medications for 11 years. Now I only take one and my blood pressure is down from high 140s systolic to low 120s and from mid 90s diastolic to mid 70s.
Further, I used to have frequent heartburns (GERD). No more, that is a thing of the past.
I have been treated for periodontal gum disease for the past almost two years with only minimal impromvement. My dentist recommended gum surgery.
Since I moved to low carb eating, my gums never bleed when flossing, and my breath is not so bad as it used to be.
At my last appointment, the dental hygienist only spent half the time she need previously because there was so much less plaque deposited.
My energy level is good, I do take long walks and do some strength training – in fact I feel stronger than ever.
So based on all these improvements, I have no doubt at all that a low carb diet is the best for me and most likely best for the majority of people.
Take care of yourself – eat healthy, stay healthy!
